This is an exciting week at the Fashion Place because tomorrow we’re setting off bright and early to London Fashion Weekend, with our second year and Masters students!
We’ve been watching the coverage all weekend and are especially enjoying Mulberry’s new designs (we’ve fallen in love with their Roxette in Rose Petal Shearling) and those of Preen by Thornton Bregazzi!
We’re particularly looking forward to the Guy Bourdin photography exhibition at Somerset House. Watch this space for highlights from our trip!

Here’s a sneak peak at the fashion on display at the Gray’s School of Art mid degree show! We’re looking forward to seeing the finished collections later this year!
We’re getting organised for the annual RGU Fashion Show project which will take place on Friday the 29th of May! The students are sending in their choice of team and we’re looking forward to confirming the teams at the official project launch in March!
We’d like to wish our fashionable followers all our very best wishes for 2015!
It’s our first week back in the office (or our fashion avenue as it’s become known) and we’re gearing up for some big events in 2015! This year, Aberdeen Business School celebrates its 50th anniversary and we’ll be celebrating in style with some “fabulous at fifty” themed events!
The first, our annual Affordable Style exhibition, will be launched on Thursday the 16th of April from 6pm at Aberdeen Business School. Entry is free but guests are encouraged to make a small donation to a chosen charity (or charities) during the evening. This event brings together first year Fashion, Events Management and Public Relations students who will work in teams to organise the event and raise funds and awareness for 12 charities. The students are given £10 per team and a designated charity and they’re tasked with choosing and styling a garment for the exhibition and planning some value adding initiatives for the night of the exhibition launch. For those who can’t make it to the launch, the exhibition will remain in the atrium for two weeks. We’re very excited to see what will be showcased this year! Here are some examples from previous years.
Our second event of the year is our annual student fashion show where our third years will work together in teams to organise and manage the project from start to finish! This year’s show will take place on Friday the 29th of May and will also include fiftieth anniversary twist. Here are some photos from last year’s Northern Lights themed fashion show.
More on both of these events will be revealed soon…
Happy Friday to all our fashionable followers!
Here’s a flashback to this time last year at the Fashion Place! Today we’re at the Clothes Show Live with our first years!
Our fourth years are preparing to hand in work for this year’s fashion project! Last year students were tasked to shoot a look book for the Burberry trench and this year have been given a collection of items from McCalls Aberdeen. We’re looking forward to seeing the results!
Have a fabulously fashionable weekend!
The countdown to Christmas is on and we’re looking back to this time last year at the Fashion Place, where our very own Morven MacSween was the star of Debenhams’ Christmas advert; remember that red coat?
Tomorrow we’re attending the Clothes Show Live with our first years; we’ve been tuning in to the coverage on Twitter and can’t wait to be there! We hope the students enjoy it as much as they did last year!
Annus Moris is a celebration of the first year of The Fashion Place (and the fifth year of our fashion management programme).
The countdown’s on until we welcome our new students and we’re feeling nostalgic as we look back on our 2012/ 2013 year! We’ve welcomed three new members of staff, published yet another fashion magazine and raised a record amount for a local charity through our annual fashion show.
We’ve proudly cheered on as our students graduated and celebrated their achievements where we had a record number of students graduating with First Class Honours and going on to exciting careers in the fashion industry.
We’re looking forward to seeing what 2013/ 2014 brings!
For the second year running ASOS Marketplace and Clothes Show Live are offering graduates a fantastic opportunity to retail their designs and collections at the Clothes Show Live event this December for free.
In addition to the event, ASOS Marketplace is also offering successful graduates the chance to host their collections in their own boutiques on the ASOS Marketplace website, with full details available here https://marketplace.asos.com/community/blog/2013/08/win-stand-at-clothes-show-live-2013.

We had a great time at the Aberdeen degree show at Gray’s School of Art today.
There are some really interesting pieces by some very talented young artists.
Here’s where they keep the fashion designs… We didn’t want to leave!
