Prada guest talk

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Lamberto Berti, Industrial Relations Director for the Prada Group, who joined us all the way from Florence this afternoon.

This was an excellent opportunity for our students (and staff!) to gain an insight into the evolution of the iconic Prada Group and brought to life many of the subjects from across the various years of the course!

Lamberto tells us that he loves Scotland and is looking forward to spending the next few days exploring Aberdeen as well as visiting Edinburgh and Dundee. He has also kindly gifted us some beautiful Prada books that we look forward to reading. These are on display in the Fashion Place and really illustrate the artistic influences and ideas behind what Lamberto refers to as the Prada spirit.

It was lovely to welcome this familiar face back to RGU this morning!

Julie Brander graduated in our first BA (Hons) Fashion Management cohort and, since then, has enjoyed an exciting and successful career in the Scottish Communications sector as an Account Manager with Weber Shandwick. Julie has very kindly come along to talk to a number of our student cohorts about her career and some of the opportunities that exist for our hard working and creative students!

Thank you for a very inspiring talk Julie!

Thanks to Clare Richardson, Operations Manager at John Lewis Aberdeen, for a fantastic guest lecture today. Clare spoke to our first year and MSc Fashion Management students this afternoon as part of their respective Fashion Retail and Fashion Business modules. This was an excellent opportunity for the students to gain insight into a dynamic and successful British fashion retailer with a really interesting history. It also helped contextualise a lot of the theory that we teach during the course in a real life case study example.

We’re hugely grateful for the support John Lewis provide for our Fashion Management programme, employing a number of our students part-time, providing placement opportunities and contributing to our annual student fashion show.

An excellent end to the semester!
