Happy Friday followers!
As we approach the end of January, we look forward to welcoming back our students for semester 2 – with the notable absence of our lively third years who are preparing to go out on placement next week! They’ll shortly be followed by our Masters students in April.
We’re so excited to see some of the exciting opportunities they have lined up for the next few weeks and wish them all the very best wishes for their placements! We’ll be sharing some of their photos and experiences over the next few weeks so watch this space…
Kirstin Ritchie started her placement this week – at rrrentals in New York! We’re happy to report that Kirstin’s having a great time in the big apple where she’s already gained valuable styling experience.
Kirstin’s keen to make the very most of her time in New York and is enjoying the culture, scenery and the snowy weather – spending some of her spare time at dance classes!
Our first years’ colour exhibition mood boards have brightened up the Aberdeen Business School atrium this past week. There are some very interesting visuals on display this year. Well done to everyone involved!
Here’s a short film with behind the scenes footage of our Golden Show photoshoot which took place on Tuesday at Paramount Bar.
The shoot features our models, Gillian Leslie and Iuilia Stoica (stage 3 Fashion Management) and Tadiwanashe Wazara (stage 2 Fashion Management) and our fabulous photographers, Jen BirtlesKelman and Martin Parker.
A huge thanks to MSc Fashion Management student Joanna Anniol for filming and editing, and a further thanks to Bon Accord & St Nicholas for lending us the garments.
Our Masters students are around mid-way through their placements and here’s a visual update from Jessica, who’s working at Pandora Germany for the next three months, and Sarah, who’s on placement at German cashmere label Henry Christ.
We love Pandora‘s branding, which is strongly influenced by both its Danish roots and Thai designs. From these photos, it’s clear to see that this translates not only to the jewellery, packaging, and retail spaces, but also to their office environment.
The brand Henry Christ is also a very interesting one, where the founders and designers were part of the German TV production, Fashion Hero. Today, only five years after the foundation of the company, their products are available in 17 countries worldwide! Like Pandora, their strong visual identity is evident in the pictures above where their logo, garments, retail and office space are shown.
It’s been a sunny (albeit quiet) week at the Fashion Place where our students have been enjoying their Spring break. Here’s a Friday flashback to April 2014 where our first year students were counting down to their fashion exhibition and our fourth years to their dissertation hand-in later this month (which is exactly what this year’s students are doing too)!
Have a fabulous weekend!
