Yesterday our students presented the cheque for funds raised during the Golden Show fashion event to Down’s Syndrome Scotland. We celebrated by watching a video of the event, for the benefit of the students who were busy styling and organising models backstage on the night of the show.
Well done everyone and congratulations on organising a fantastic event and raising an impressive sum for a local charity.
On Friday, our third year students raised £4737 for Down’s Syndrome Scotland in a successful Golden Show event! A fantastic assortment of fashion from Aberdeen’s Bon Accord & St Nicholas was showcased in themed catwalks and our fabulous fashion finale showcased couture designs from Aberdeen based designer and Gray’s School of Art graduate, Daniel Crozier, whose show-stopping dresses wowed the audience (and us!) Students gathered on stage to announce the total funds raised for the charity and were showered in confetti by the large balloon that was elevated over the stage during the event (it worked – yay!)
Feedback from our guests highlights the fashion and entertainment as their favourite aspects of the show; the latter included our fantastic MC, Wray Thomson, the talented singer/ songwriter Anna Barton, and modern violinist, Ramus.
A huge thank you to our guests, entertainers, models and sponsors who collectively made the show a success! A special thanks to our main event sponsor AVC Media who helped us transform our venue into our vision of the Golden Show. More photos and videos to follow… The above images are with credit to our Golden Show photographer, Martin Parker.
With just under 24 hours until the Golden Show, AVC Media have been very busy setting up our staging and lighting equipment!
We were excited to see AVC Media arrive promptly this morning with their vans full of equipment, which they have kindly donated for the fashion show.
The team got to work and within a few hours our stage had completely transformed making us even more excited for the show tomorrow evening
We would like to say a huge thank you to the AVC Media team who helped us today and donated their equipment and skills for such a great cause!
Some of the AVC Media team looking very proud of the work they have achieved today!
Thanks again AVC and we hope you enjoy the show!
With only two days until the Golden Show, everyone is busy with last minute preparations!
Yesterday one of our Golden Show make-up artists trialled a smokey eyeshadow with gold embellishment, which will look perfect on our beautiful models!
Another huge thank you to Johnsons of Elgin for donating this beautiful cashmere scarf to our Golden Show raffle. Yet another prize that we would be very delighted to win! Johnsons of Elgin is a brand with such a fascinating story and they’ve shown huge support towards our Fashion Management students by providing placements, donating prizes to events and giving guest lectures!
Last week was our Golden Show pub crawl! The students headed around pubs in Aberdeen city centre with their charity buckets, handing out free sweets and trying to raise as much money as possible for Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
Thanks to Triple Kirks, Siberia, Slains, the Monkey House and Paramount Bar for their support. We had a great time and raised £122 for an amazing cause!
Prizes for the Golden Show raffle are starting to arrive and we’ve had some fantastic donations from local businesses; here’s a necklace kindly donated by Harpers Accessories. Other prizes include: an overnight stay at the Registry Guest House; a cashmere scarf from Johnstons of Elgin; afternoon tea for two at Dunblane Hydro; tickets for a show by Aberdeen Performing Arts; an LCTG Hair Product Gift Box; and dinner at 210 Bistro.
Raffle tickets are available in the run up and on the night of the fashion show. You can also purchase your fashion show tickets online by clicking here.
Only nine days to go…
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our Golden Show sponsors so far, especially Bon Accord & St Nicholas and AVC Media!
Our students have been on an Aberdeen city and shire road trip, seeking in-kind sponsorship over the last week and we’ve had some fantastic support from local businesses! These include: Paramount Bar and Yo Sushi – who will kindly sponsor our VIP room; Toni and Guy and Stacey Strachan Makeup – who are helping style our models; Breakneck Comedy – who are sponsoring our fabulous MC (Wray Thomson); and we also have some exciting raffle prizes, ranging from dinner at 210 Bistro to an overnight stay at brand new guest house, the Registry! We’ve also had huge support from Shooligans, the Chess Group, Nova, Trend, and Premiere Productions.
If you would like to get involved please let us know! It’s all in aid of Down’s Syndrome Scotland!
Louise’s Sponsored Cycle
Well done to Louise, one of our fashion show team leaders, who raised over £400 for Down’s Syndrome Scotland during her sponsored cycle last week!
Over the next few weeks, and in the run up to the fashion show, we have a number of fundraising events planned! The first will take place tomorrow in Aberdeen’s Bon Accord & St Nicholas and our students have been working hard this morning to organise some fun Easter themed activities! We’ll be in the centre tomorrow from 10am to 5pm, next to Costa, so come along and see us to find out more about the fashion show and our charity, Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
