Today is the launch of our annual “Charity Chic” fashion exhibition project!
Our Fashion Management, Event Management and Public Relations students will be split into 12 teams and assigned a charity. Their task is to source an outfit from their designated charity shop and design an exhibition space to showcase their garment, promote the charity, and which ties in with the overarching theme of Aberdeen Business School’s 50th anniversary celebrations! The students will work together to plan a creative launch night event to take place on Thursday the 16th of April and the exhibition will run for two weeks from this point.
We can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Our first year students have been investigating fabric quality as part of their Fashion Construction and Technology module. What better way to do so than make a dress?
Here’s a little challenge that Dr Morag Hamilton, Course Leader for the Masters in Fashion Management, sets our students each year. Morag completed her PhD in luxury branding a few years ago and introduces the challenge as part of her fashion branding module.
Research has shown that we, as consumers, tend to be more loyal towards brands than specific retailers and most of us could relate to a number of brands we engage with on a daily basis.
These are Morag’s “brands in a day”. Only one of these is merely aspirational – I wonder if you can guess which one…
What would be your “brands in a day”?
Annus Moris is a celebration of the first year of The Fashion Place (and the fifth year of our fashion management programme).
The countdown’s on until we welcome our new students and we’re feeling nostalgic as we look back on our 2012/ 2013 year! We’ve welcomed three new members of staff, published yet another fashion magazine and raised a record amount for a local charity through our annual fashion show.
We’ve proudly cheered on as our students graduated and celebrated their achievements where we had a record number of students graduating with First Class Honours and going on to exciting careers in the fashion industry.
We’re looking forward to seeing what 2013/ 2014 brings!
