In the run up to The Golden Show we can now confirm that Stacey Strachan and Gosia Weiss will be doing our models’ make up. We are extremely excited about this as its great to have local support.

I don’t know about you but we can’t wait for the Golden Show!
Today is the launch of our annual “Charity Chic” fashion exhibition project!
Our Fashion Management, Event Management and Public Relations students will be split into 12 teams and assigned a charity. Their task is to source an outfit from their designated charity shop and design an exhibition space to showcase their garment, promote the charity, and which ties in with the overarching theme of Aberdeen Business School’s 50th anniversary celebrations! The students will work together to plan a creative launch night event to take place on Thursday the 16th of April and the exhibition will run for two weeks from this point.
We can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Earlier this week our fourth year Events Management students were taken on a trip to London and visited some famous British venues, including Wimbledon. There they found this fabulous window display and learned about the changing trends in tennis uniform (amongst other things)! What do you think of the Wimbledon chic?
We’d like to wish our fashionable followers all our very best wishes for 2015!
It’s our first week back in the office (or our fashion avenue as it’s become known) and we’re gearing up for some big events in 2015! This year, Aberdeen Business School celebrates its 50th anniversary and we’ll be celebrating in style with some “fabulous at fifty” themed events!
The first, our annual Affordable Style exhibition, will be launched on Thursday the 16th of April from 6pm at Aberdeen Business School. Entry is free but guests are encouraged to make a small donation to a chosen charity (or charities) during the evening. This event brings together first year Fashion, Events Management and Public Relations students who will work in teams to organise the event and raise funds and awareness for 12 charities. The students are given £10 per team and a designated charity and they’re tasked with choosing and styling a garment for the exhibition and planning some value adding initiatives for the night of the exhibition launch. For those who can’t make it to the launch, the exhibition will remain in the atrium for two weeks. We’re very excited to see what will be showcased this year! Here are some examples from previous years.
Our second event of the year is our annual student fashion show where our third years will work together in teams to organise and manage the project from start to finish! This year’s show will take place on Friday the 29th of May and will also include fiftieth anniversary twist. Here are some photos from last year’s Northern Lights themed fashion show.
More on both of these events will be revealed soon…
On Thursday the 15th of November, our first year BA (Hons) Fashion Management students launched an exhibition which showcased affordable style and charity chic.
The project formed part of the Managing in the Fashion Industry module and the students were split into teams, assigned a charity shop and given £10 to spend on an outfit, create a theme and showcase these, alongside their charity’s mission, as part of a two week exhibition. The charities which were showcased are: Barnardo’s; British Heart Foundation; Cancer Research UK; Cats Protection; Chest Heart and Stroke; CLAN; New Hope Trust; Oxfam; PDSA; Save the Children; Shelter; and Sue Ryder Care.
At the exhibition launch, the students engaged in fundraising initiatives, including selling homemade cupcakes, customised pens, tea and lemonade. In some cases, teams had customised their garment – in an affordable and manageable way – and some teams even managed to successfully auction off their outfit to exhibition guests – with all proceeds going to their assigned charity.
