As announced in our previous blog post (click here if you missed it) this year’s theme for the digital fashion show is “Fashion is Creative. Fashion is Culture. Fashion is Business.” In order to cover every aspect, we’ve split into three groups with the creative team looking at the more artistic side of fashion.

Above is a glimpse of the team playing with shadows on their latest shoot. Here are the members and their fashion views…

Sophie
What is your favourite fashion item?
A classic, wardrobe essential, black full length coat. A versatile piece that is easy to dress up or down. Also a fashion classic – never dates.
Who is your top fashion designer?
This varies for me. I am a sucker for Chanel and Victoria Beckham at the minute. I am obsessed with the simplistic, minimalistic and tailored look VB achieves across her collections. Although I do love Alexander McQueen – I think his work back in the day was inspirational.
What is your biggest fashion fail?
The mini-skirt! I wore one once and I think it was possible the most unflattering garment I’ve ever worn! Not for me unfortunately, I don’t have the legs!
What side of fashion do you identify with the most; creative, culture or business?
I can identify with the business side of fashion the most. I am a stronger believer that tailored, minimalistic garments do look the most stylish. I am more about style, than the latest fast fashion trend. However, I love the creative side of fashion – I personally don’t dress in a creative manner as I don’t believe I can pull it off.
What does fashion mean to you?
I believe that fashion acts as a visual communicator, and illustrates someone’s personality to a degree.

Ciara
What is your favourite fashion item?
This changes all the time as I tend to get a bit sick of things easily, but it would have to be a tie between my Stella McCartney bag and the classic MAC Russian Red lipstick.
Who is your top fashion designer?
Elie Saab is one of my favourites, the attention to detail is so beautiful it’s almost scary.
What was your biggest fashion fail?
When I was about 13 I used to wear sparkly plastic hairbands with butterfly hoop earrings. Not a good look.
What side of fashion do you identify with most; creative, culture or business?
Creative all the way!
What does fashion mean to you?
For me fashion is a contradiction because it can be used as a means of raw expression, but also as a shield, depending on how you feel at certain moments of time.
Stacy
What is your favourite fashion item?
My black Karen Millen Coat – it’s a classic that I can wear season after season. It goes with everything and can be worn as casual or dressy.
Who is your top fashion designer?
Chanel
What was your biggest fashion fail?
Coloured Jeans – I swear I had every colour from yellow to bright pink.
What side of fashion do you identify with most; creative, culture or business?
Business
What does fashion mean to you?
I see fashion as a means of expressing one’s self, one’s personality and style. However, I believe strongly in dressing well. As stated by Coco Chanel “dress shabbily and they’ll remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.”

Sarah
What is your favourite fashion item?
I feel most confident in an oversized sweater. To me, comfort is key. I love anything with embroidery on it too.
Who is your top fashion designer?
I’ve always been fascinated with Valentino, especially the embroidered gowns.
What was your biggest fashion fail?
When I was 7 I went through a phase of wearing all beige. Head to toe.
What side of fashion do you identify with most; creative, cultural or business?
Creative. I think when I enter the workplace it’ll become more business-orientated but I will never lose touch with my creative side regardless of my job.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion allows me to be anything I want to be. I can change it up daily depending on my mood and an outfit I feel confident in can make a world of difference. It’s also a way to make a statement – I love garments with quotes on them.

Lisa
What is your favourite fashion item?
Having a statement bag, as you can be so casual with your outfit but a classic bag can totally change the outfit.

Who is your top fashion designer?
Alexander McQueen
What was your biggest fashion fail?
Wearing a lot of colour at the one time.
What side of fashion do you identify with most; creative, cultural or business?
I love all the topics and can relate to them, however creative will always be the main focus as I’ve always had a strong creative mind and love to build something that I can be proud of.
What does fashion mean to you?
Always tell your story through your creations and be proud/owning them.

Charlotte
What is your favourite fashion item?
I don’t actually have a favourite fashion item at the moment (it changes every time I buy something new) but I will totally worship my Louis Vuitton handbag (classic, I know – but the day will come when I finally get one). Also, my future Gucci trainers (which again I WILL have one day). This will probably change in a couple months or so because that’s what fashion does…am I right?
Who is your top fashion designer?
Hmmm… I’ll say Chanel because its timeless and so sophisticated. But Gucci probably suits my style better…
What was your biggest fashion fail?
My boot cut jeans – I used to wear them no joking, every single day when I was twelve.
What side of fashion do you identify with most; creative, culture or business?
For me fashion is creative, fashion takes inspiration from culture and we use our creativity to make it our own.
What does fashion mean to you?
A form of expressing ourselves I suppose… fashion shows our personality whether it be sporty, quirky, classy, sophisticated, gothic or whatever, we use fashion every day to express ourselves.
Thanks to the creative team for sharing their fashion thoughts. Next week we’ll be seeing what the culture group have to say…
